Huuu haaaa India "HARA" India... thats what the blue billion will be chanting today as India probably ( i know am being too optimistic with this word) has closed the doors off 2007 cricket worldcup for itself with a stunning match losing performance yesterday against Sri lanka.
All the build up,all the excitement, all the discussions , all the expert comments that we have been witnessing from the past two months suddenly seems to be foolish . So much money that has been pumped into indian cricket just for this tournament , and why not its the biggest in the cricketing world, has now gone in vain as India did not even qualify for the super eight (loss of 150 crores estimated).
But the question i would like to raise is that are we not "overdoing" things. What i feel is that we and only we are the reason for india's poor performance at the worldcup. I would like to ask every cricket fan here that is it easy for anybody on this earth to perform under the pressure of a billion fans . When you know that each movement of yours, each expression of yours, each ball you play is being watched by a billion people and each of those billion will have an expert comment for the situation, can you even imagine how a player feels when he is right there at the center. Now c'mon they are also human beings. We have curtailed the power of our players to play pure cricket by making them "god" in our country.Yes we!...we are the real villains who are responsible to put individual players above " the game". It's actually us who have made it so difficult for our players that even the highly experienced ones find it difficult to live up to the expectations. And what finally happens is that the players do not even play to their potential , leave alone playing extraordinary......
I know there will be hundred different things one would say to oppose what i am trying to say and i am also sure that these hundred different things have been said a thousand hundred times before. But i call myself a "true fan " because i want to support my team when it needs the most. After all, losing or winning is a part of every game but learning never ends............ and this learning is for "us" also. As Benjamin Franklin says---- ""Being ignorant is not so much a shame as being unwilling to learn"

hi raunak...
I agree with you on most of your views and obviously support my team, but I feel that when you are playing for a country like ours where you are treated like GOD and people have high expectations you should perform well. You might disagree but I feel that when you are not able to deliver even after so much support you must work hard and concentrate on your game and not on your endorsements.
yes man we all have belief and faith on the Indian team, but they showed the worst performance which was unexpected to everyone no one even hope that the team will show there weakness. lots of additional support, advertisement, and prayers had been done for their best regards, everyone hoped to see the victory of the team but all hopes seemed to be smashed! billions of people were hurt by the doings of the team, it was not only the teams defeat but loss to the whole country, everyones desires were ruined, many companies who invested huge amount would know have to suffer loss.
anyway the team should not get disheartened and bounce back to play well and win back the hearts of the billion fans.
