"THE BLUE BILLION "

Huuu haaaa India "HARA" India... thats what the blue billion will be chanting today as India probably ( i know am being too optimistic with this word) has closed the doors off 2007 cricket worldcup for itself with a stunning match losing performance yesterday against Sri lanka.

All the build up,all the excitement, all the discussions , all the expert comments that we have been witnessing from the past two months suddenly seems to be foolish . So much money that has been pumped into indian cricket just for this tournament , and why not its the biggest in the cricketing world, has now gone in vain as India did not even qualify for the super eight (loss of 150 crores estimated).

But the question i would like to raise is that are we not "overdoing" things. What i feel is that we and only we are the reason for india's poor performance at the worldcup. I would like to ask every cricket fan here that is it easy for anybody on this earth to perform under the pressure of a billion fans . When you know that each movement of yours, each expression of yours, each ball you play is being watched by a billion people and each of those billion will have an expert comment for the situation, can you even imagine how a player feels when he is right there at the center. Now c'mon they are also human beings. We have curtailed the power of our players to play pure cricket by making them "god" in our country.Yes we!...we are the real villains who are responsible to put individual players above " the game". It's actually us who have made it so difficult for our players that even the highly experienced ones find it difficult to live up to the expectations. And what finally happens is that the players do not even play to their potential , leave alone playing extraordinary......

I know there will be hundred different things one would say to oppose what i am trying to say and i am also sure that these hundred different things have been said a thousand hundred times before. But i call myself a "true fan " because i want to support my team when it needs the most. After all, losing or winning is a part of every game but learning never ends............ and this learning is for "us" also. As Benjamin Franklin says---- ""Being ignorant is not so much a shame as being unwilling to learn"
